Join CTrees at New York Climate Week!

Despite urgent calls for action, deforestation and forest degradation remain persistent issues around the world. With Brazil set to host COP30 in Belém next year, attention is turning toward the role of forests in addressing climate change and the financing needed to ensure protection of these important ecosystems.

As part of NY Climate Week, CTrees is bringing together a panel of leaders in policy and science on Tuesday, September 24, to discuss innovations in finance for Global South jurisdictions to protect and restore forest ecosystems.

The discussion will center the concrete commitments and action plans needed to make jurisdictional carbon finance a cornerstone of global climate action. Panelists include:

  • Christina Magerkurth, Managing Director, Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART)

  • Carlos Nobre, Ph.D., Senior Researcher, Institute for Advanced Studies, University of São Paulo; Co-Chair, Science Panel for the Amazon

  • Sassan Saatchi, Ph.D., Senior Research Scientist, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab/Caltech; co-founder and CEO, CTrees
